Mount Wilson Drive and Lunch

Start your Sunday, August 24, with a beautiful mountain drive through the hills to the top of Mount Wilson. This three-hour round-trip will give you breathtaking views of Los Angeles and the Angeles National Forest. Sign up for the optional boxed lunch from Mendocino Farms and enjoy great food while overlooking the city. After lunch, take a free self-guided tour of the grounds or join the 1:00 PM guided tour at the Cosmic Café (space is limited).

We’ll meet in La Cañada Flintridge at 10:00 AM for cars and coffee at Starbucks before heading out at 11:00 AM to the top of the mountain. Midway up, we’ll stop for some group photos. At the summit, we’ll eat our picnic lunches with panoramic views of the city. We recommend bringing folding camping chairs for lunch, as bench seating is limited.

The drive is 40 miles round-trip from our starting location and includes steep mountain roads, so please arrive with enough charge to get back to your destination. A Forest Service Day Pass is required for parking ($6) unless you have a valid annual pass.

Schedule

• 10:00 AM – Cars & Coffee at Starbucks (1929 Verdugo Blvd, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011)

• 11:00 AM – Depart via Angeles Crest Hwy

• 12:00 PM – Lunch at Mt. Wilson Skyline Park Picnic Site

• 1:00 PM – Self-guided tour or optional guided tour at the Cosmic Café
